As web3 economies grow, security has become paramount. From January to July 2022 alone, losses due to exploits and hacks surged to $1.9 billion. In some cases, the effects of these incidents might have been mitigated if project teams or end users had received timely alerts. This is where Forta's real-time monitoring comes into the picture. As the first decentralized security protocol for smart contracts, Forta enables teams and end users to receive prompt, relevant notifications regarding the security and health of protocols and systems. This empowers investors and stakeholders to take swift action, preventing exploits or minimizing their consequences.
At Nethermind, our bot development team apply their expertise to multiple areas across the Forta community.
• Custom bot development
• Forta Detection Bot Wizard
• Generalized bot maintenance work
• Forta Agent Tools library
• Smart contract development for Forta
• Scanner node operator for Forta Network
• Forta Governance council member
• Forta Arbiter committee member
Why we are building on Forta
Our bot development process is tailored to meet the needs of each protocol.
We analyze the documentation and gain a full understanding of the service at hand.
With iterative client input, our experienced engineers identify the areas that would most benefit from monitoring and generate a carefully constructed bot proposal, including a specification on how the bots will interact with the protocol’s deployed contract code.
Lastly, we design all of the suggested bot logic resulting in fully developed bot implementations.
Nethermind’s Tomasz Stańczak is a member of the Forta Governance Council, which seeks to “steward the continued evolution of the Forta Network by facilitating the collective action of its community".
Similarly, Nethermind’s Roberto Cantu is a member of the Arbiter Committee for Forta. This committee is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and resolving technical complaints in the network. Ultimately, the decision of the committee will withdraw, validate, or deny a slashing proposal.
